Happy Feast of the Visitation! Today we celebrate the fact that Jesus Christ, God made man, not only descended into the womb of the Virgin Mary, but also through her, visited St John the Baptist in the womb of his mother, St Elizabeth. How great should our reverence for persons in the womb. How great should our attentiveness to Jesus who visits us in the difficult disguise of our sufferings and sorrows. How do we train ourselves to the hour of his visitations? In the Holy Eucharist we know that he comes to us in great mercy and in disguise that we may adjust our eyes to see him at all other hours of the day.
